About Us
In 2021, two community advocates, Khedda Hayden-Ryan and Shawn Chandler co-founded the Jewel of Jamaica organization. Using social media, the duo recruited hundreds of cooperators to share stories, organize, create organizations and activities, resolve tenant issues, and network. To restore excellence to Rochdale Village, they believe civic participation in each group is a priority.
Mission Statement
The Jewel of Jamaica’s mission is to restore excellence and integrity to Rochdale Village Inc. by increasing cooperative engagement in each group, using social media, increasing senior and youth programming, expanding our property, and increasing investments to generate additional revenue while always remaining affordable.
